Mindme is a purpose-made alarm with features specially created for both older and disabled people.
It is small and compact. It's smaller than a credit card and no thicker than a box of matches. You can wear it around your neck using the supplied lanyard, clip it to a belt or keep it in your pocket.
When it’s worn you can activate the alarm by tugging the device which will release the toggle. Holding down the SOS button will also activate the alarm. Either way Mindme will vibrate to tell you it has activated.
Mindme incorporates the latest satellite technology (GPS). When the alarm is activated Mindme sends its location to the Emergency Response Centre (ERC) and your details and location are flashed onto the Operators’ screen. Your location will be displayed on either street-level mapping or as an aerial photograph and it’ll be accurate to a few metres.
Mindme then makes a voice call to the Response Team. You’ll know that an Operator has answered your call because Mindme will vibrate again. Now, holding Mindme like a mobile phone, you can talk to the Operator.
A Mindme alarm will operate for 18 hours or more. If you forget to charge it then a message will be sent asking you to do so.
Sometimes people forget to switch on their Mindme alarm. That’s not a problem: if you activate the alarm when Mindme is switched off it automatically turns itself on!
